What is the Regional Board?

Each local area has a committee of adults who believes in the mission of Young Life: to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. You'll find adults from all different backgrounds, careers and churches, including lots of moms and dads who care about kids. The committee, comprised of parents, Young Life alumni, business men and women, and other civic leaders, provides a foundation of financial, administrative and moral support for the local Young Life team.

An Essential Foundation

A local board going to work; planning, praying, and prepping for events as well as working through issues that will grow and develop local ministry.

The Regional Board is the foundation for Young Life in a local area. Oftentimes, new Young Life clubs start because of the interest and awareness created by local committees and the Board working together. We also welcome the involvement of adult Young Life alumni, whose enthusiasm about their Young Life experiences is valuable to us.

Below comprises a list of assets members of the board possess.

Calling: Calling is both inward and outward. A candidate should desire to serve and be recognized by others as possessing the gifts and graces necessary for the task.

Character: Though no leader can expect to be perfect, he or she must be exemplary, modeling in a consistent way the character of Christ. 1 Timothy 3:1-7 offers a useful summary of the character qualifications.

Competency: God calls leaders to serve in distinct and varying ways. A candidate should evidence the inclination and ability to fulfill the particular role sought by the Board.

Commitment: Candidates must seriously commit to their role as a Board member. First, candidates must be willing and able to attend Board meetings and satisfy specific Board related duties. Second, candidates must be willing to satisfy the minimum financial contribution set by the Board. The Board may make exceptions or modifications to this financial requirement on a case by case basis. Third, if the candidate has not already done so, he or she must visit a Young Life camp within six months of becoming a Board member.

Compatibility: First, candidates need to understand Young Life’s vision. Second, candidates must be a good fit with the existing Board.

Comprehension: Candidates need to understand and accept Young Life’s Statement of Faith, Vision, Mission and Values.
